Frequently asked questions about ladder inspections
How often must ladders be inspected?
There is no fixed interval for all companies. It depends on the operating conditions and is set in the risk assessment. DGUV Information 208-016 recommends an inspection at least once a year.
Is it enough if employees check the ladder themselves?
The visual check before every use is mandatory and useful. However, it does not replace the regular inspection by a qualified person.
Do step stools and office ladders need inspecting too?
Usually yes. Step stools and office ladders are also work equipment and subject to wear, so they belong in the inspection.
What happens to damaged ladders?
They are marked and must not be used until they have been repaired and released again. Replacement is often the better option.
How much does the ladder inspection cost?
That depends on the number of ladders. You receive a quotation in advance.
